KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and director Pierre Andre revealed that he and his mother, fellow director Khatijah Tan, had once received threats from unknown individuals when he first made his directorial debut.
In a video clip on the Andre Brothers Pictures YouTube channel, Pierre talked about his early days in the local film industry.
He said that at that time, he was given the opportunity to direct his first film, titled 9 September.

'My mother had received threats then. The person contacted my mother and told her not to let me direct the movie because I was not qualified,' he said.
But Khatijah advised her son not to take notice of the threats.

'My mother told me to ignore the negativity. Just continue doing what I wanted to do. I was a little scared since I did not have any background in film aside from being an actor with some experience in acting,' he said.
Pierre, 35, then talked more about his first-time experience and added that he had to overcome a lot of challenges.
One of the big tests for him was being very nervous on his first day of filming.
'On the first day, I was really shaking with nervousness. It didn't help that three days later, my grandfather passed away.
'But I had to be professional about it and finished my job before moving on to tend to my personal matters,' he said.
Aside from Pierre, 9 September also starred Fasha Sandha and Fahrin Ahmad.
The romantic comedy, which was screened in cinemas in 2007, also saw him serving as a scriptwriter.
